PUTTIST / Past and Future
First of all, thank you for your interest in The PUTTIST.-
I had come to develop The PUTTIST as a hobby 10 years ago when I first began to play golf for the first time. Having majored in piezoelectric sensor technology at KAIST, I naturally became interested in developing an effective method of putting practice with my knowledge of sensors.
Ten years later, The PUTTIST has well-established itself in Korea as a popular and effective putting aid. The funny thing is, I had thought that my device would become known for its unique new platform. But it turned out that its ability to increase the amount of practice by 10-fold in a fun and engaging manner - all in a space-saving 1.5M size - was the main reason!
If you have tried The PUTTIST, you can see that you can practice up to 10~ times the normal session on a real green. This is possible because practicing with The PUTTIST saves valuable time by not having to go and retrieve the golf balls after you make a putt for many more practices. The ball comes back to you while the device displays the distance that you have putted. Therefore, you can putt much more in a shorter amount of time and better ingrain muscle memory for putt distances.
Now I may not be Tiger Woods, but I am quite sure that I can practice just as much as a Tour pro in a much shorter span of time.
In addition to creating a new platform to increase effective practice time, I also had to overcome the challenge of how to keep the golfers engaged without becoming bored. The solution was to design a challenging game that kept the golfer interested and engaged in a certain putting goal. As a result, I had developed two unique putting games of "Mission ttt" and "Mission 7 putt".
"Mission ttt" requires you to putt to a distance of 10, 20, and 30 feet without being short or going past the mark by more than 2 feet. "7 putt" is similar but asks you to putt to seven distances between 10~40 feet. The distances can be increased or decreased by 5 feet intervals or assigned in random order, and awards one point for each successful putt.
The result? You won't believe how motivated golfers get to hit that putt distance day in day out! Golfers practice fervently to get that 'perfect' 7 point score, which is akin to a hole-in-one in The PUTTIST. Before you know it, you will find that you have become a great lag putter with your own ingrained feeling for distances on any green speed.
I truly believe that The PUTTIST should be the precursor to practicing on a real green. Looking ahead over the next 10 years, I hope to further overcome the limitations of traditional putting practice sessions and to expand new horizons for our advanced "putting meter" system.
I hope you can join me on the journey ahead!
